Walking the path of Change

One Vision. Three Pathways.

Buneen Group was created to do what single programs or policy shifts alone can’t — respond to the complex systems that continue to disadvantage First Peoples.

Disadvantage doesn’t exist in isolation. It shows up in care systems, in workplaces, in community services, in governance and it’s sustained by structures that were never built for First Peoples.

That’s why Buneen Group brings together three aligned, First Peoples-led organisations. Each entity focuses on a different point of intervention:

  • Healing and identity for Aboriginal children in care

  • Long-term employment and workplace transformation

  • Cultural safety and systems reform for organisations and institutions

Together, we create impact at every level — from self to boardroom.

Our Purpose

To end Indigenous disadvantage by rebuilding the systems around our people through cultural strength, bold leadership, and community-led design.

Our Vision

In 50 years, Buneen Group will be known as the catalyst program that shifted the narrative, reformed the systems, and closed the gap . Globally.

The SAFE Method

Diagram illustrating the Safe Method with interconnected elements: Self, Family, Organisation, Communities, and Agency, emphasizing a holistic approach to safety.

The SAFE Method is the backbone of everything we do. Created by Buneen Group founder Shawn Andrews, it’s a strengths-based, culturally developed framework that drives cultural safety, healing, and structural reform.

SAFE works across five interconnected domains:

  • Self – emotional wellbeing and cultural identity

  • Agency – voice, purpose, and decision-making power

  • Family – kinship, intergenerational healing, and care

  • Community – truth-telling, governance, and leadership

  • Organisation – structural change and cultural accountability

We apply this method across all entities — so that change is not only intentional, but truly sustainable.
